PayPal Brings Billing To BlackBerry’s App World In 10 New Countries; Four Languages

PayPal Android App
We knew that Research In Motion was rolling out its BlackBerry App World in new countries, but now PayPal—which is the exclusive billing provider for the platform—is giving us more specifics.
PayPal’s Francesco Rovetta from the company’s mobile team told us this morning that the company plans to announce on its blog today that it is expanding its service beyond the U.S., UK and Canada to 10 new countries: Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands and Portugal. In addition, PayPal will be supporting four languages, including English, French, German and Spanish. Obviously, PayPal was a good fit for RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) because of its ability to support multiple countries, languages and currencies.
EBay-owned PayPal is on a roll in mobile. Since earlier this year, it integrated PayPal payments into the eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) iPhone app, which has been downloaded around half a million times; has launched an Android app that let’s people send payments to friends from their contact list, and in July announced it will be opening up its services via APIs that will allow mobile phone and web developers to integrate payment solutions into their applications and web sites. Through that program, developers will potentially be able to charge for their applications without the participation of a carrier or handset maker.
